Luxury eco-friendly hotels are typically in far-out locations like on an island or in the middle of the jungle, but 1Hotel Paris will bring what it describes as a “green lung” to the city of lights.

Designed by revered Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, 1Hotel Paris’ unique wood-panelled facade is complemented by multiple terraces and suspended gardens, along with a large and lush hidden garden in the heart of the property. The hotel will feature 140 rooms, fitness centre, co-working space, pool and a panoramic rooftop restaurant.

1Hotel Paris will be located on the left bank of the River Seine, on Avenue de France in Paris Rive Gauche.

The latest luxury hotel to showcase China’s incredible and diverse natural landscapes is Alila Taihu. Located in Xishan Island, Alila Taihu sits on a hillside along the northeastern coastline of the island, overlooking views of Taihu Lake.

The design puts a modern spin on the traditional hamlets of local fishermen, and will feature 42 guest rooms, as well as 56 private one- and two-bedroom villas in a serene setting of calm waters and vibrant flora and fauna. The hotel will offer dining options including all-day dining and a Chinese restaurant, event spaces, a gym and spa.

Alila Dalit Bay takes over a 17 acre stretch of white sand in Sabah, on the northern tip of Borneo, Malaysia. The resort’s earthy, eco-smart design, inspired by the traditional longhouses of the local Dusun Lotud tribe, is constructed using local timber and accented with chic woven rattan, painted screens and tribal artefacts.

The beachfront resort will feature 152 guest rooms and suites, plus 74 private one- and two-bedroom villas. All villas are connected to the beach and lagoon areas. The hotel will house multiple dining options, a sky lounge and bar, kids’ club, library, swimming pool, outdoor wedding chapel, and event spaces.
